Unusual Food Pairings

Mmmmmm...Lyn bought a new kind of pretzel the other day:  Snyders Honey Mustard & Onion.  Reallllly tasty. Which reminded me of an unusual combination of tastes I "invented" the other day.  I can't even remember how I happened to have gotten pretzels and ginger in close proximity to each other.  I think I was snacking on some pretzels and Lyn had brought home some Chinese food or something.

ANYWAY, a sliver of fresh ginger with a little pretzel twist was an amazing flavor combination. I was shocked at how good it tasted. I highly recommend it.

So, I'd be really interested to hear of some strange (but tasty) food/snack combinations you enjoy that people don't usually think go together. (Beenie Weenie's don't count!)

(Who would have thought ranch dressing and bar-b-que sauce would be a good salad dressing?  But at Stone Fire Grill, they make a killing with that combination!)

Don, you just brought back some old memories. When I was a theatre major in college we would work on sets for hours on end and the theatre was on the opposite side of campus as the cafeteria. We were forced to go to the vending machine for meals. At the time Snyder of Hanover chips were very plentyful in it. Not only did they have the honey mustard pretzels, but they had dill pickle potato chips, pepperoni potato chips, and the classic liver & onion potato chips.

Ooohh...I love those pretzels. When I was a kid I used to nuke a potato after school everyday and dump barbecue sauce all over it. I thought I was in heaven. (Until one day, I used a green potato and ended up puking quickly thereafter. Lesson well learned.)

My sister's favorite snack as a kid were carrots dipped in garlic salt.

IMy freshman year I ate a buttered roll with nacho cheese Doritos on it every day for lunch. YUM! I still like to put chips on my PB&J.

LIVER AND ONION chips??? Never heard of those before!

Never did the BBQ sauce on a baked potato....have used salsa often. A former student would dump nearly 1/2 a bottle of Heinz ketchup on her baked spuds. (To her, the potato was the condiment. She was a ketchup junkie.)

With your pics, I thought maybe you were pregnant. ;) When I was in college, I liked eating baby carrots with the WOW ruffle potato chips, until we all found out that the WOW chips had only 10 calories because they gave you the runs. yep. Bummer.
